Celebrating the life of
Mary Pardue Gay
August 27, 1927 - March 03, 2024
Mary Nell Pardue Gay passed away on March 3, 2024, at her home. She was born in Augusta, GA and graduated from University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She returned to Augusta and taught at Perrin Elementary School following in her beloved aunt, Elizabeth Bartlett’s footsteps. Shortly thereafter she married Captain James Gay and lived in Europe and various places in the United States before settling in Augusta and Savannah where she was a homemaker and mother to three children. She kept a home in Augusta on her family property as well as Savannah where her husband was President of a transportation company for many years.
Her lifelong devotion to her faith in and love of God defined her life. She taught Sunday School for many years and participated in WMU actively.
All who knew her realized she was an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan her whole life and loved to reminisce about her time at her beloved Alma Mater. She had a formidable respect for education, history, and family heritage. She supported varied historical societies among them Winterthur, HSF, Williamsburg Foundation, was a member of University Women of Augusta and a privileged member of Savannah Yacht Club. She was a kind and gentle lady with a great sense of humor who would want her legacy to be one Club. of living with grace, hope, forgiveness, and love in Christ.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, two brothers and one sister and her husband, James O. Gay.
She is survived by her children James Gay (Lynette), Angela Fielitz (William) and Ellen Bradley( Wayne).

Mrs. Gay was a warm, charming, kind Christian lady who was one of my Mom's best friends. She would often answer my Mom's phone call with a portion of the UGA fight song, knowing it would stir the Auburn grad up just a bit. I always enjoyed talking with Mrs. Gay and offer her family my sincere condolences. I know she and Mom are enjoying each other's company in the presence of the Lord.
