To Jimmy and family - I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your dad. I thought the world of him as did my mom. I have many memories of the 'good 'ol days' at Newman-Young Clinic. Dr Burke was one of the best "teacher's " for any new green young nurse. As we made rounds with him, he would ask us questions.."So, what do you think is going on with this patient? What treatment should me think about? Why did I start them on this medication? What are some things to watch for?" He helped put our new knowledge into practice! Never talked down to us A gentleman & a doctor willing to share his knowledge!! I remember one day we had a patient who towered over all of us and we were supposed to get him up and walk him. He was quite unsteady once we got him up. Your Dad was walking by the room and saw us struggling to keep this guy up. He stepped in the room and said, "Looks like you ladies could use a helping hand and someone more his size!!" Grateful for the care he gave my Grandmother as her physician. She showed up at his office one day, very confused and disoriented. He personally called my Dad to let him know what was going on and said, " We will keep her here till you can come and get her." God be with your family as you grieve this loss.
