Joseph "Joe" Songer
Passed away on February 21, 2024
Joseph Wesley Songer, 53, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at his home. He was born January 21, 1971, in Charleston, West Virginia to Harold Eugene and Sandra Childers Songer. Joe served in the U.S. Navy and retired from the U.S. Army. He loved his family, especially his children. Joe spent many nights listening to his son Joseph play in several bands in Savannah and Tybee Island.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Tami Songer, and brother, Kevin Songer.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Jodi Ranson Songer, his children, Mary Ferrill, Tyler Jacobs (Carrie Easter), Kara Songer (Hunter), and Joseph H. Songer. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Chloe Elmore, Olivia, Remy, and Sophie Ferrill, Austin and Theo Jacobs, and Cooper Ledsome, his sister, Mona Hinzman, and other relatives.
The family will have a private service and burial at a later date in West Virginia.
Dear Jodi and Family; I, with you am saddened by the loss of Joe. We loved when he came by our house to work on and shoot the breeze about his beloved VW bus. My son Clint was very fond of him as Joe was always cheerful and engaged with him. Hopefully they can meet up their eternal resting places. Love Jay & Diane Deering
