Marian Nelson Kleeman
October 20, 1924 - February 07, 2018
Marian Ruth Nelson Kleeman, 93, died peacefully on February 7, 2018, at Palmetto Inn at Savannah Square.
She was born in Savannah, GA, October 20, 1924 daughter of Mary Louise Forney Nelson and Bernard M. Nelson. She grew up in Thunderbolt ,GA. She was a graduate of Savannah High School and attended Armstrong Junior College. She married Carl G. Kleeman, Jr, on June 1, 1946 .
She was a devout Christian and active member of Saint Andrew’ Anglican Church. She hosted bible study weekly in her home for many years.
She was a successful real estate agent for Sullivan Fleetwood Realty for 15 years. She retired to be a full time grandmother when her first grandchild was born. Family was her priority and she was always available to help her children and grandchildren and to support their activities. She loved and supported many friends whom she welcomed as family.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Carl George Kleeman, Jr., and daughter-in-law Joy Newman Kleeman.
Marian is survived by her son Carl G. Kleeman, III, and daughter Carolyn Kleeman Williams and husband Jerry; five grandchildren, C. George Kleeman, IV, (Suzanne), John N. Kleeman, A. Champ Kleeman, Patrick K. Williams (Beth), and Lydia W, Carlton (Tim); eight great grandchildren, Catherine and George Kleeman, of Atlanta, GA; Breinna Boyer, Addyson, Emma, and Sophia Williams of Savannah, GA; and Chance and Tucker Carlton of Auburn, AL; a brother C Forney Nelson (Gloria) of Birmingham, AL and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 – 7pm on Friday, February 9, 2018, at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. The funeral will be held at 11 AM Saturday, February 10, 2018, at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. Burial will follow in the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Palmetto Inn at Savannah Square, 4 Front Hospice, and the wonderful group of caregivers who loving provided personal care for many years.
