Stephen Ira Lewis
September 05, 1959 - January 19, 2024
Stephen Ira Lewis, 64, died peacefully on Friday, January 19, 2024 with his loving family by his side.
The lifelong resident of Savannah was the son of the late Milton Donald Lewis and Dorothy Lovett Lewis. Stephen was a U.S. Army veteran heroically serving in Iraq. Stephen continued to serve his country in the U.S. Army National Guard retiring after 21 years of service and was a member of Chatham Artillery. Stephen was a longtime employee of Home Depot and retired from Georgia Regional Hospital after 33 years of service. He enjoyed watching Nascar and competing in Fantasy Football.
In addition to his parents, Stephen was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Ira Lewis, Jr.; and two brothers, Ronnie and Tommy Lewis.
Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Debra Hightower Lewis; daughter, Tiffany Lewis Bridges (Robert); son, Kevin Michael Lewis (Elena Carroll), all of Savannah; seven grandchildren, Nevaeh, Michael, Baylee, Auora, Laira, Lana, and Lilith; five brothers, Larry Lewis, Lee Lewis, David Lewis, Jimmy Lewis and Richard Lewis; two sisters, Debra Hickox and Pamela Shuman; and several nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss him dearly.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. A celebration of Stephen’s life will immediately follow at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
