Celebrating the life of
Mark Joseph Schaub
August 14, 1956 - January 15, 2024
Mark Joseph Schaub, of East Fallowfield, PA passed away at Memorial Hospital on January 15, 2024 surrounded by his family after a brief illness. Mark was born in Traverse City, MI to Milford and Marie Schaub on August 14, 1956. Raised in Sutton’s Bay, MI, he graduated from Sutton’s Bay High School in 1974.
Mark found ballroom dancing in 1977 in Flint, MI when he became a dance instructor for Fred Astaire Dance Studios. He later moved with the company to Florida and competed professionally throughout North America and Europe, winning various National and World Dance Titles. After moving to Savannah, Mark was the founder and owner of Southland Dance Studio. After selling the studio he moved to New Jersey in 2006 and opened American Ballroom Company which he owned and operated until his retirement.
In addition to ballroom dancing, Mark could often be found playing handy man, showing off the skills taught to him by his father and older brother. He especially took pride in his lawn and garden and during most seasons he was outside to make sure everything was just right.
Mark is survived by his mother, Marie; his wife of almost 25 years, Ticia; daughter Mary Katherine Haycock (Liam); son Dustin Hambrick (Amy); grandchildren Zoey, Presley and Jackson as well as the upcoming arrival of his granddaughter Poppy; a brother Leonard (Joyce); sisters Linda Warren (Michael), Sharon Elzer, Marlene Plane (Garry) and Lori Lingaur; and Goddaughter Norah Galton; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father, Milford Schaub. There will be a family memorial service planned this summer in Sutton’s Bay, MI with internment to take place at the Catholic Cemetery in Savannah, GA at a later date.
