Celebrating the life of
David Williams
May 10, 1946 - December 26, 2023
SAVANNAH – David Alan Williams, age 77, died on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at the Oaks at Habersham where he had been a resident since September 2016.
David was born on May 10, 1946, in Sumter, South Carolina and lived in Miami with his family for a short time before moving with his family to Savannah, Georgia. He graduated from Jenkins High School in 1964 and later moved to Atlanta to work in the laboratory for a pharmaceutical company where he sustained a blinding injury to his right eye. David returned to Savannah to work for Gulfstream, retiring after 30 years, as a Tooling Supervisor. He was a lifelong fan of motor sports, especially NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt, and Dale Earnhardt, Jr.
David was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Blalock; his mother, Irene Josey, and Ellis Franklin Funderburk; his father, William Doy Williams; sister, Alice Dolores Bennett; and his brother, Michael Barry Williams. David is survived by his son, Rex Christopher Williams, and Granddaughter, Mara Dawn Irene Lewis Williams; brother, Robert Lee (Lynette) Williams; and sister, Deborah Gaye (Stephen) Premo; brother-in-law James Henry Bennett, Jr; sister-in-law, Diane Cribbs Williams; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel, on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. The Funeral Service and burial will follow at 1:00 pm at Bonaventure Cemetery.
The family suggests any remembrances be made in David’s memory to Amedisys Hospice Care, 138 Canal Street, Ste 304 & 305, Pooler, Georgia 31322.
