With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Casey Howell Thompson of Savannah, Georgia, who passed away on December 9, 2023, at the age of 47. Casey was the son of Catherine Brooks Martin and Walter H. Thompson. 

Casey grew up on Wilmington Island, Georgia, where he spent time exploring the rivers and waterways.  His home away from home was Daufuskie Island, South Carolina.  Casey was of the Catholic faith.  He attended Nativity/ St. Peter the Apostle Catholic School, Benedictine Military School, and Armstrong State University.  He was the owner of Thompson Home Improvements and worked for Daniel Reed Hospitality.  

Casey had a great sense of humor, and his smile would light up a room.  He was a dog lover and had a particular fondness for chocolate labs. He was an avid fan of University of Georgia Football. Go Dawgs!

Casey was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Tyler J. and Ammie Brooks and his paternal grandparents, James and Dorothy Thompson.

Casey leaves to cherish his memory his parents, Catherine Brooks Martin (Dr. Carl Anderson) and Walter H. Thompson (Sandy), his brothers, Tyler Gerow (Lori), Jason Oldfield (Kat), and his sister, Dawn White (John), his aunts Shirley B. Ryan (Tony), Judy B. Griffin, and Eloise T. Glorieux, his uncle Larry J. Thompson as well as his special friend, Jennifer Del Vecchio, numerous cousins and close friends.

Casey will be laid to rest on Monday, December 18. Visitation will be from 3:30-4:30 at Fox and Weeks Islands Chapel with a service immediately following. The celebrant will be Fr. Patrick O’Brien.

Honorary Pallbearers: Richie Green, Shawn Donnelly, Jamie Durrance, Alan Williams, Steven Green, Alex Davis, Sean Ryan, Chat Howard, Jr., Taylor Griffin, and Russell Glorieux.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Habitat for Humanity, or the Humane Society of Savannah.
