Celebrating the life of

Ann Elizabeth Black Davis

January 18, 1924 - December 11, 2023

Ann Elizabeth Black Davis

Ann Elizabeth Black Davis, 99, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 11, 2023 at Memorial Health University Medical Center with her loved ones by her side.

Ann was born on January 18, 1924 to Charles Coleman and Maude Lloyd Black. She was the youngest of four children and a lifelong resident of Savannah. After graduating from Savannah High School, Ann worked for ten years at the Central of Georgia Railroad, a job that she loved, until she “retired” to take care of home and family. She was married to her childhood sweetheart, Jimmy, for 66 years. She was a Christian and until her death, had the distinction of being the longest living member of First Presbyterian Church of Savannah.

In her younger years, Ann loved spending summer vacations at Tybee. She enjoyed nature and was an avid birdwatcher. She was a longstanding member and past president of the Daffin Heights Garden Club. Ann was also very politically aware and served as a poll worker for many years.

Ann was devoted to family. Her grands and great-grands adored her entertaining antics, crazy costumes and “original” bedtime stories. She was affectionately known by family as the
“energizer bunny” because it was so hard to keep up with her. She lived long and well, and leaves a legacy of love and laughter that will never be forgotten.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband Jimmy; grandson, Christoper James Martin; sisters, Ethel Black and Mary Clifton; brother, Walter Lloyd Black; and son-in-law Michael Lance. She is survived by her daughters Debra Lance and Jane Martin (Robert); grandchildren, Jamison Machen (Kyle) and Kaitlin Lance-Young (Marc); four great-grandchildren; several nieces and a nephew.

Memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at First Presbyterian Church.

Remembrances may be made in Ann's memory to First Presbyterian Church, 520 Washington Avenue, Savannah, GA 31405.
