Fox & Weeks presents York Children's Foundation grants to local organizations
Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors presented York Children’s Foundation grants to the Coastal Children’s Advocacy Center and the Matthew Reardon Center for Autism during the first week of September.
The grants totaled $1,500 and Fox & Weeks has now awarded more than $11,000 in York Children’s Foundation grants since 2012. Each time a family purchases a casket at Fox & Weeks, a portion of the cost is donated to the York Children’s Foundation in the name of the deceased and the accumulated funds are distributed quarterly through an application process to area non-profits benefitting children and children’s causes.
Coastal Children’s Advocacy Center (CCAC) is a private, non-profit agency that provides a safe, confidential and child-friendly site for free investigative and therapeutic services to victims of child abuse. CCAC opened in 1992 to offer a neutral, free standing facility where law enforcement agencies can come together on behalf of child victims and witnesses to help decrease the trauma a child suffers when being interviewed about being the victim of a crime or witnessing a crime.
The Matthew Reardon Center for Autism is dedicated to the care and education of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Through partnerships with existing medical, educational and community services, MRC provides special programs to enhance the quality of life for these children, and the Advance Academy at MRC Our is an accredited program designed to provide students with ASD the opportunity to reach their full academic potential.
“Both of these organizations provide our community’s children with much needed resources, and the services they provide are irreplaceable,” said Fox & Weeks vice president Scott Weeks. “We are fortunate to be able to contribute to helping both of these organizations continue to achieve their respective missions.”
The York Children’s Foundation is affiliated with the Mathews International Corporation casket division and has delivered millions of dollars in grants throughout the country since its introduction in the early 1990s, and Fox & Weeks is the only funeral home in the area actively participating in the York Children’s Foundation program. The purpose of the York Children’s Foundation is to support non-profit organizations dedicated to children, and any organization in the Coastal Empire with the primary purpose of providing for children’s needs is eligible to apply for a York Children’s Foundation grant.
To qualify for a York Children’s Foundation grant through Fox & Weeks, an application must be submitted and an organization’s activities must be primarily directed towards the welfare and benefit of children.
