Congratulations to Jay Burke - 2025 St. Patrick's Day Parade Marshall!

Please join the entire Fox & Weeks family in congratulating Fox & Weeks funeral assistant Jay Burke on being named Grand Marshall for the 2025 St. Patrick's Day Parade! Jay follows in the footsteps of his father, James Burke Jr., who was Grand Marshal of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in 1992.

Jay is a direct descendant of the Burke Clan of County Cork in Ireland, and he has been steadfast in his commitment to his rich Irish heritage. Jay's father, the late James Guy Burke (Jimmy), dedicated his life to service on eTybee island and the Savannah Irish community, and he was elected the Grand Marshall for the 1992 St. Patrick's Day Parade.

Jay is a native Savannahian and 1983 graduated of Benedictine Military School. Jay spent 27 years working for Empire Distributors, and he's been active in the community as a member of the International Longshoreman's Association and the St. Patrick's Day Committee Board. He's a communicant of St. Michael's Church on Tybee Island and a frequent voluntee at several Catholic chuches in Savannah. Jay is a Past Marshall of the Hibernian Society, a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernian, Past President of the Irish Heritage Society and a Past President of the Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick. He also served as a Council Member for the City of Tybee Island and has held leadership positions for the Tybee Island Post Theatre, the Tybe Island YMCA, the Tybee Island Wine Festival Committee, the Tybee Island Pirate's Festivel Committee and the Tybee Island Beach Bum Parade Committee.

Jay is not only an exemplary representative of the unique Irish history in Savannah and on Tybee island, he is also a man a good character, displaying trustworthiness, loyalty and service to others. We are so proud of Jay and know he will do a great job!
