Bill, Andy, Monica, and family, I am so very sorry. I did not know about Mary's passing until today. I'm heartbroken for you and for all of us who knew and loved her. I will always treasure the ten years I lived in Savannah and shared so many fun times with Mary, and Bill. She is the epitome of a Southern lady in every way and I am proud that she was my friend. I can still hear her laughter and see her wonderful smile. I will keep all of you in my heart and in my prayers. May God bless.

Judy Fryrear, Jacksonville, FL

I'm sorry for your loss. The scripture at Revelation 21:4 gives hope. There, Jehovah God, promises to do away with sickness and death very soon. This scripture has helped me in the past when dealing with loss. I hope it helps you too. For more information, please visit jw.org.

I am very sorry to hear about your loved one. May you find comfort in God's promise that "Death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." (Revelation 21:4)

Thomas, Snellville, GA

Bill and family, We are heart-broken at the passing of Mary. She was one of our dearest friends, and we will cherish the many wonderful times and great memories we all had together. Mary was a rare love, a true friend, and one of the most gracious ladies we've ever known. Please know that you are in our thoughts daily, and we love you and your family very much.

Mary was one very special lady in so many ways, she was my golf partner at the Landings when we had so many laughs and years to pass. She was excellent at everything she participated in, golf, bridge, cooking and being the best wife and grandmother to Monica's children. She will be missed by so many people, including Dick and me.

Grace & Dick Rowland, Bremen, Maine

So very sad to hear to hear this. Loved being around Mary, playing Bridge and talking Recipes. Always so happy & lots of laughter when she is around. We will deeply miss her. Vicki Anckner

Mary Olivia Pilkinton Anderson went to heaven December 4, 2017. Having grown up in a 5 room house on a dirt road 11 miles from Douglas, Georgia, she always described herself as a “country girl” in a lyrical soft southern accent, when asked. Her disposition was ever cheerful, saying she was never deep into religion, she felt that she always wanted to be a good person and never spoke ill of anyone. Competent in bridge, golf and tennis, she greatly enjoyed the games of life. Cooking was an obsession with recipes scattered about the house. However she possessed a brown thumb. Voted prettiest girl as a senior superlative but she never told anyone.

To meet her goal to teach, she attended South Georgia College, Wesleyan, Western Carolina and Armstrong State graduating with the first class that granted four-year degrees, at the age of 28 with 2 children.

Mary is survived by her husband, Bill, and two children, Charles W. “Andy” Anderson, III of Savannah and Monica Leigh Anderson Paterra of Fleming Island, FL, three grands, Victoria Leigh Paterra, Anthony Anderson Paterra and Olivia Grace Paterra.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2017, at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.

Remembrances to Wesley Monumental UMC or Hospice Savannah, Inc.
