Aisha Ahmed, Savannah, Ga

Our sincere and heartfelt condolences to the Blocker family. May fond memories provide solace for your loss during these most difficult times. God keeps those who have fallen asleep in death in His memory because they are precious in his eyes “Psalm 116:15” and “John 5:28,29”

Sheila, Lawrenceville ,

Crushed upon leaning-yesterday of the passing of Julie ..... she was the "best !" I knew Julie for over 40 yrs and the world is a sader place without with Julie in it. My deepest sympathies to Sara and the entire Blocker family.

Rachel Carnicelli, ,

Sincere condolences to Marcia, the Blocker family and her many, many friends. Julie absolutely inspired greater self esteem and a larger world view to generations of Savannah youth. Then there's the animals!!

Gene Graves, Crescent, GA

Ms. Blocker was always my favorite teacher, helping me realize some talent in art that carried through into college as I moved on to other things.

I am so sorry for your family's loss. Mrs. Blocker was an AWESOME teacher. I learned to love art from her. I am sure she is going to be missed by her loved ones, but I hope y'all take some comfort in knowing she is in heaven with God.

Such a warm and dear soul that will be remembered always for kindness, love of life and laughter. Julie was instrumental in making my wife, Mary and I feel welcomed when we moved to Savannah in 2001. She wrapped her arms around us and treated us with the love and warmth of someone that we could have known for years. We have many fond memories of poker nights, camping and just having a great time when we were around Julie, Marcia and the rest of the “gang”. While we eventually retuned to Los Angeles, we did not lose touch and always loved sharing stories with our L.A. friends of our true southern charming family from Savannah. Much love Julie and deepest condolences to Marcia, Sara and the rest of her family. Xx Lisa & Mary

Julie was one of the sweetest people we have ever known. This world is a lesser place without her. RIP Julie. We love you

Julianne “Julie” Blocker, long-time resident of Savannah passed away at her Parkside home on February 3rd.  Born in Walterboro, SC, Julie was the oldest of six children born to Sherrill and Claire Mouzon Blocker. She is survived by her life partner, Marcia Long, sisters Dianne Reynolds (David) of Baton Rouge, LA, Sara Blocker (Harriet) of Darien, GA; brothers Tom Blocker (Nellie) of Lawrenceville, GA, Beau Blocker of Columbia, SC. and she was predeceased by youngest brother William Blocker of Savannah. Rescue pets Lillie and Anna also survive her. Julie taught art for 30 years for the Chatham County Board of Education, and retired from Johnson High School. In retirement, Julie spoke her piece when necessary to protect animals, and the many hours Julie contributed to Save-A-Life advocating and being a dog foster over the years are immeasurable. It is only due to her hard work and persistence that Animal Services have their more modern building.

A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.

Contributions to Save-a-Life may be made in her memory. http://www.savealifepets.org or P.O. Box 16730, Savannah, GA  31416.
