Love and Support to the family of Mrs. Heilman. I lived on N. Jefferson St, just a few doors down and enjoyed talking to Mrs. Heilman. Always remember the apples on the porch at Halloween time. She always had that great smile on her face.

What a great lady..so sorry to hear of her passing

Bouch, Kittanning, Pa

A lady of amazing grace, Janie girl has at long last earned her angel wings and has taken flight on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, in Savannah, GA at the tender age of 92.

Jane was born in Kittanning, PA on June 26, 1925 to Roy and Josephine Gidel. She married Harry Heilman on August 23, 1948. Together they raised three daughters, Karen, Laurie, and Amy. She moved to Savannah in 2005 to be near her daughter Amy. While in Savannah, she enjoyed many new friends and a milder climate. Jane loved to paint and was a crafty lady loved by so many whose lives she touched with her loyal friendship, compassion, and wonderful sense of humor. She was both an adoring mother and a best friend to her daughters.

Perhaps nothing will be missed more than the hours and hours of conversations over her kitchen table or on the back porch steps…usually accompanied by cookies and many times her specialty…burnt cookies. She loved her church, Grace Presbyterian, teaching generations of children at the pre-school and making the altar flowers for over 20 years. She also loved being an active member of the Kittanning Garden Club and was very involved with the Public Library.

Memories of her Christmas teas and parties will live on as well as her paintings and “Mary Janes”.

Jane is predeceased by one daughter, Laurie Heilman, by her husband of fifty years, Harry A. Heilman, and by her parents.

Survivors include her daughters, Karen Knierim and husband Scott, and Amy Menzies; grandchildren, Hunter Knierim (Katy), Erik Knierim (Allie), Lisa Smith (Mark), and great-grandchildren, Molly Jane and Anderson Knierim, Jack Menzies and Tyler Smith.

Memorial Service plans are pending.

Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Presbyterian Church or the charity of your choice.
