I am so very sorry for your loss. Losing a loved one in death is very painful. I can't exactly understand how you feel, but our Heavenly Father Jehovah does and he will give you the strength to endure. May the wonderful memories you have of Bernice bring you comfort and the words found at Isaiah 41:13 where God says he is grasping your right hand, the one saying do not be afraid I will help you during this difficult time.

S Love, , Ga

What a blessing to have had Ms. Waters with you for such a long time. God, through His word, The Bible, gives us the hope of "everlasting life." How wonderful it would be to share an eternity with our dead loved ones on this then peaceful earth. (Revelation 21:3 &4); (John 5:28 & 29). My sincere sympathy to your family.

Bernice Andrews Waters of Savannah, 90, widow of James H. Waters, died Tuesday, January 16, 2018. A native of Tattnall County, Georgia, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. After graduating from Metter High School in 1944, she moved to Savannah, where she graduated from the Draughon’s Business College. She met and married returning Army World War II combat veteran James H. Waters. They were married for 40 years until his death in 1988. Mrs. Waters worked at the Savannah Public Library for almost 30 years, and was devoted to her sons’ education. Most days she would bring home from the Library history books and biographies for her sons to read. She was active as a Cub Scout leader and PTA leader in her sons’ grammar school, and a supportive fan during their baseball games. After her retirement from the Library, she continued to work there for many years, in her old job, as a volunteer. She was a member of Bull Street Baptist Church in Savannah, and was a devout Christian with a quiet demeanor.

She was preceded in death (at age 2) by her father, Willie Eugene Andrews; mother, Shelly Cowart Andrews Kicklighter; stepfather, Early Kicklighter; brothers, Bill Andrews and Willie E. Andrews, Jr.; sisters, Mildred Fears, Gaynell Green, and June Andrews; step-sisters, Cannoye Sharpe and Loraine Hatch; and step-brother, Ryloh Kicklighter.

She is survived by her son, Gene Waters and wife, Becky, of Statesboro, and her son, Don Waters and wife, Cindy, of Savannah; grandchildren, Josh Waters (Brandi) of Statesboro, Anne Waters Jackson (Lanier) of Charleston, SC, Claire Waters Rilee (Stephen) of Charlottesville, VA, and Jon Waters (Jennifer) of Statesboro; great-grandchildren, Nathan Waters, Robb Rilee, Emilee Waters, Thomas Jackson, William Jackson, Tyler Waters, Grant Rilee, and Will Waters; step-sisters, Arie Frawley and Evigene Higgs; and several nieces and nephews and their children.

The family is appreciative for the care their mother was provided by the THA Group, with special thanks to Sonia Moore.

Visitation will be at Fox & Weeks, Hodgson Chapel, from 4pm to 6pm, Friday, January 19; and from 1pm to 2pm, Saturday, January 20. The funeral service will follow, at 2:00 pm. The Rev. Mike Ricker of Isle of Hope United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial: Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that remembrances be made to a favorite charity.
