I'm so sorry to hear the news of your mother's passing. As a teen I remember spending a good amount of time at the Stubbs household on Lee Blvd. with Joe T. Mrs. Stubbs was always so lovely and hospitable. She will truly be missed and please know that my prayers are with your family at this difficult time.

I am so very sorry. Mom and Dad (Mary and Ben Craven) let us know. I was actually just thinking of all of you earlier this week, and how fortunate that group of College friends stayed in touch. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Ann Fitzhugh Stubbs died peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 6, 2018.

Annie, as she was known to her family, was born to Dr. O. Garth and Mary Boaz Fitzhugh in Burlington, Vermont.  She grew up in Kensington, Maryland and graduated from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she was crowned Miss Consolidated University [UNC, UNC-WC, NC State, Duke] in 1957.  Later that year she married Joe Stubbs of Lanier, Georgia.  In 1967 they moved to Savannah, Georgia to raise their family.

One of Annie’s interests was genealogy and she spent countless summers wandering through the woods of Northern Virginia searching for her family roots.  Annie was active in numerous organizations including Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames, Georgia Medical Auxiliary, Huntingdon Women’s Guild, Georgia Historical Society, Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O.), Order of the Crown of Charlemagne, and First Families of Virginia.

Annie is survived by her husband Joe; their children Shawn [Scott], Sharon [Ryan] and Joe T [Emily]; their grandchildren Ann, Caitlyn, Len, Joseph, Pier, Ella, Eliza, and Greta.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the many caregivers and friends who showed Annie boundless love and compassion during these last several years.

Funeral services are scheduled at First Baptist Church on Chippewa Square on Monday, February 12 at 10:30 a.m.  A private graveside service will be held at the Veterans Affairs’ National Cemetery in Beaufort, South Carolina at a later date.
