Celebrating the life of

Catherine Wittkamp Young

August 15, 1942 - March 28, 2026

Catherine Wittkamp Young

Catherine Converse Wittkamp Young, 83, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2026.

Born in Savannah, Georgia, she graduated from Jenkins High School in 1960. She grew up in Rose Dhu on the Vernon River, where she developed a lifelong love for fishing, casting, and gardening. Known for her green thumb, she had a great passion for all flowers and plants.

She was a dedicated animal lover; it was often said that if you believe in reincarnation, you would want to return as one of her dogs. Her community involvement was extensive, including her time with the Huntingdon Women's Guild in the 1980s and her long-standing membership at White Bluff United Methodist Church. At the church, she served on numerous committees and was instrumental in organizing Vacation Bible School and the annual Christmas Bazaar. Additionally, she volunteered as a "Pink Lady" with the St. Joseph's Auxiliary.

She enjoyed a successful career at Levy Jewelers, where her natural talent for sales and "knowing pretty"  truly shone. Above all, she was a proud "Honey" to her 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Gladys Wittkamp; her brother, Joseph Wittkamp; her son, Andrew Wittkamp Young; her grandson, Graeme Young; and her ex-husband, Louis C. Young, Jr.

She is survived by her children: Louis Calvin "Trey" Young III (Rebecca), Amanda Young, and Matthew Young. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jennifer Smith, MaryCatherine Parker (George), Eli Parks, Benjamin Parks, Saralyn Wilson (Casey), Addison Sparks (Stephen), Riley Young, Reese Young, Carter Young, and Mason Young; and her great-grandchildren: Presley, Charlotte, Edward, Scarlett, Liam, Oliver, Arraya and Remington.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family. I worked with Catherine. She was a lovely Southern woman. I am better for knowing her.
