Celebrating the life of
Mary Cheryle Baxter Kimball
November 07, 1945 - October 27, 2025
Mary “Cheryle” Baxter Kimball, 79, died after complications from pancreatic cancer and slipping into a diabetic coma on Monday, October 27, 2025, in the loving embrace of her son.
Cheryle was born in Jacksonville, Florida, but grew up outside Glennville, Georgia. She was educated in the public school system of Tattnall County, Georgia, where she made countless, life-long friends. She received her BS in Education with a major in Speech Therapy from the University of Georgia. Her continuing education was to maintain her speech and teaching credentials. She taught in the Savannah Chatham County Public School System for more than thirty years. The lives of many young people were enriched and improved due to her teaching and kindness.
Christianity and faithfulness to our Lord was instilled in Cheryle from birth and has always been an important part of her life. First Presbyterian Church of Savannah is where she planted her Christian roots and raised her son. She was an active member who taught Sunday School and engaged in various other volunteer activities to further the enrichment of God’s Word. From her church associations she added faithful, enduring friendships.
Cheryle was predeceased by her parents, Dan Buell Baxter, Sr., Cequal Howard Baxter, and older brother, Dan Buell Baxter, Jr. She leaves behind her beloved son, Daniel Scott KIimball; her younger brother, Dennis Gary Baxter (Linda); uncle, C.W. Howard (Shirley); nephew, Daniel Baxter (Erika); niece, Elizabeth Baxter Kangeter (Ray); and nephew, Dillon Baxter, along with several great nieces and nephews, and a myriad of cousins.
Cheryle made friends from all facets of her life. Once a friend, always a friend. She shall be remembered for her laugh, love of conversation, generosity, thoughtfulness, and nurturing spirit.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2025 (GO DAWGS), at Fox and Weeks Funeral Home. Immediately afterwards there will be a procession to First Presbyterian Church where her ashes will be interred in the church’s Memory Garden.
