Joy Povec

Joy Povec was born February 23, 1945, in Savannah, and passed away in Pooler February 7, 2024.

She graduated from Robert W. Groves High School and Bolen Draughon Business College. After her marriage to Michael J. Povec, she lived in numerous states and held a variety of positions in the real estate field and was a technical writer for Lockheed-Martin during the Space Shuttle Program. She was a member of the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. She was very active member of the Chatham County Republican Party and in 2009 received the J.C. Lewis Outstanding Republican of the Year Award. She served as a delegate to many local and state Republican conventions and attended the 2nd inauguration of President George W. Bush. She was a member of the Froebel Circle.

Joy is survived by her husband of 55 years, Michael Joseph Povec, her son, Lt. Col. Mark Povec (Brandy) of Oklahoma, and stepson, Michael David Povec (Debbie) of Tow, Texas, two grandchildren, Hunter Tate Povec and Cameron Joseph Povec, and two nephews, Chopper and Phil Gleason of Savannah, GA.

A visitation will be from 1:00p.m. until 2:00p.m. Sunday, February 11, 2024, followed by a 2:00 memorial service at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors Islands Chapel.
