John Heitman

John Heitman

John Heitman, 79, a native of Savannah, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at his home. John was a very quiet and private person but was dearly loved by his family and friends. To know him was to love him. 

John was born August 27, 1944, to Cord Lee Heitman and Clothilde (Swinford) Heitman. He attended Cathedral Day School, Chatham Junior High, and Savannah High School. At a young age, John served as an altar boy at The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. While spending his entire life in Savannah, he enjoyed his career working in the auto paint and body field. He loved fishing, his collections of coins and match box cars, and reminiscing about the good old days growing up in Savannah. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his nephew, Wayne Joseph “Joey” Heitman II, great nephew, Ryan Christopher Elenbaas, and brothers-in-law, Eugene Lynn, and Milt Aldridge. He is survived by his brothers, Wayne Joseph Heitman (Diane), and Frederick Heitman, sister, Clothilde Heitman Lynn, nieces Lori Lynn Riner (Mike) and Heather Diane Heitman, nephew, Richard Eugene Lynn, along with 4 great nephews and 2 great-great nephews. 

A graveside service will be held at Bonaventure Cemetery on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at 11:00 am
