Yvonne Kammer Tyson passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, October 11, 2017. She was born in Baltimore, MD, on September 5,1926, to the late Thelma Bauernschmidt Kammer and Charles Elmer Kammer. The Baltimore native married Savannahian, Billy Tyson, on August 28,1945, in Baltimore and they began their life together in Savannah. She was a member of Skidaway Island Presbyterian Church.

Although having many roles during her lifetime, Yvonne cherished most that of a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Among her many hobbies, her passion was her painting.

Lovingly called Vonnie by family and friends, she was preceded in death by her husband, William V, Tyson, Jr.  Her survivors include her four children, daughter Holly Tyson Lantz and her husband Rick, son William V. Tyson, III and his wife, Melissa, daughter Cheri Tyson Phillips and her husband, Ray, and son Charles K. Tyson and his wife, Gail. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Lauren Lantz, Van Tyson(Lisa), Kent Phillips(Heather), Emily Phillips, Kammer Tyson, Julia Tyson and one great-grandson, Will Tyson.

The family would like to thank our special friend Nancy Sturgess, her Comfort Keepers-Ettie, Jackie, Erica, Carolyn, Avis, Victoria, Marla, Melia, Katrina, Dominique and Hospice Savannah, especially her nurse, Mallory, for their advice, assistance, support and loving treatment of Mrs. Tyson and her family these last few months.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 13, 2017, at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The interment will be private.

Remembrances may be made to Hospice Savannah P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416, Alee Temple’s Morris Slotin Transportation Fund, P.O. Box 14147, Savannah, GA 31416, or First Responders of the Landings, 600 Landings Way South, Savannah 31411.
