We are so sorry for your loss. We loved Walter, he was so funny and such a dedicated family man. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time. Love Lisa and Gerry

To Marilyn and the Peters family, Walt was a dear friend, always a gentleman, kind, funny and a great husband, father and grandfather. We have been friends for over 20 years. He and Marilyn are definitely like "family." We will miss you always, but, don't worry, Walt, we will always be there for Marilyn. Rest In Peace, dear friend....

Hey Walt, did you hear the one about the fire in the circus ? It was intense. We love you, Walt, and miss you. John

Our deepest sympathies Marilyn(aka Mrs Peters) and family. Our hearts broke when we found out of Walt's passing. You have been a part of our family for so many years. He's with mom and Ron now having a cocktail and telling stories. He will be missed but never forgotten. We love you ?

Mr. Peters always made us welcome and smile with his humor. A truly wonderful human being. God Speed. Hugs to his family and friends.

Hard to believe we will open our emails and not have a few from Walt. Walt was bigger than life and kept us all feeling good to know him.

Our Wednesday "Boys Golf Commissioner" Walt was the best boss I have ever known. I witnessed his "Hole-in one" last year on Magnolia. For 86 he found the most interesting internet information, pictures and jokes of any of my friends. I aspire to his slow tempo golf swing. Walt was true friend and a real "regular guy". Bob Kraft

Walter Henry Peters

A duck, the Pope, and a bear walk into a bar... If you knew Walter Peters, you have heard the punchline!! It is with a sad heart that we announce the passing of Walter Henry Peters, a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a man who loved life, always had a smile on his face, and always tried to bring a smile to others – often accompanied by a groan as he started a joke you may have heard plenty of times before, but which you still loved to hear him tell. Walter left us on March 15, 2017.

Walter was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on August 27, 1930. After having served in the United States Marine Corp, Walter returned home and graduated from Pace University in New York. Walter was a born salesman with a love of people, and people loved him. He started his career in the construction industry with Whitehall Cement, Co., and continued with that company as it was acquired several times, until his retirement in 1995. Walter knew his customers’ needs so well that when his company was considering changing to a 4 day work-week, Walter objected. There was no way he was going to work an extra day each week!!

Walter married the love of his life, Marilyn O’Connell Peters on May 20, 1961. Walter was a wonderful husband and companion to his wife Marilyn, being married 55 years at the time of his death. Walter and Marilyn moved to Midland Park, NJ to raise their family, where they had two sons, Brian and Scott. Walter and Marilyn retired to Skidaway Island, Georgia in 1996, where Walter lived the remainder of his life enjoying his family, friends, and golf. In Walter’s last round of golf he scored better than his age of 86.

Walter is survived by his wife Marilyn Peters of Savannah; his son and daughter in law Brian and Cindy Peters of Ramsey, NJ; his son Scott Peters (and former daughter in law Shelly Disser) of Marietta, GA; and his grandchildren Ashlynn Peters, a sophomore at Belmont University in Nashville, TN, and Ryan Peters, a senior at Wheeler High School in Marietta who will be attending Young Harris University this fall. Walter was a wonderful father and grandfather, always loving to be involved in his children’s and grandchildren’s lives and continuously offering his support and love.

Walter will be missed by his friends and family, who will all remember him fondly. In lieu of a viewing or funeral, the family will host a celebration of Walter’s life on Saturday, April 15, 2017, at The Marshwood Club at The Landings on Skidaway Island. Please come and share your best Walter story or joke.

Have you ever heard the one about...
