Sidney was in my heart & I sat down 2 read some comforting scripture .. before I picked up my Bible I checked 2 see if there was an update ... regretfully I had not seen that he had passed Sunday night ... 1 year & 2 Days After my own husband Paul ... Sidney was a kind, southern gentleman and he will be missed. He was a fun part of our church life group, always smiling and showing kindness. Save us a seat at the banquet table, Sidney. Oh, what a reunion it will be!

Sidney, Linda and Chris were my neighbors for 25 years or more on Battersea Drive in Lawrenceville GA. Sidney and Linda were good friends and we spoke often. When Sidney and Linda moved to Savannah two years ago my family and I, and neighbors, really missed them as friends and neighbors. Sidney Lanier Houser, 77, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Memorial University Medical Center. He was born October 8, 1940 in Orangeburg, SC to the late T. Norwood and Cornelia Culler Houser. Sidney was a 1964 graduate of Clemson University. He retired from Swift & Company after 30 years of service and also worked for CarMax for 11 years. He attended Compassion Christian Church.

Surviving are his wife of 48 years Linda Warren Houser of Savannah, one son, Christopher W. Houser of Savannah, one brother, T.N. “Nordie” Houser, Jr. of Orangeburg, SC, one sister, Mary Neal Plyler of Greenville, SC, and several loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Carolina Memorial Gardens, 7113 Rivers Ave., Charleston, SC.

Remembrances may be made to Compassion Christian Church, 55 Al Henderson Blvd., Savannah, GA 31419, Limestone United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Don Trussell 118 Donetta Drive, Orangeburg, SC 29115, or to Bethesda United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 464597, Lawrenceville, GA 30042.
