I’m so very sorry for this loss of life. I worked with Sean at Southcoast for many years. He was so very helpful to everyone. He will truly be missed! Rest In Peace, my friend!

Linda Ferguson, Richmond Hill, Ga

Sean was my friend and 5th grade classmate at Country Day in the late '70's. I remember he came to my 11th birthday. Sean was a funny man with a dramatic flair. We were good friends that one year, (I went to multiple schools growing up), and I wish we had crossed paths more often. Aimee probably doesn't remember me, but Sean and Aimee shopped at Piggly Wiggly in 1996-'97, when I cashiered there part-time. I extend my condolences and Christ's love to Sean's Mom and Dad, Aimee, and the rest of the family.

Matt Haddad, Savannah , GA

I’ve been debating about what to say to honor Sean since I heard the tragic news. After all, no words can adequately express how truly special he was. His life had such a tremendous impact on so many. To Keith and me, he was the truest friend anyone could ever wish for. Loyalty and generosity defined his character. He would literally give the shirt off of his back, for even a stranger. But, I don’t think Sean ever knew a stranger. He had a special way of making people feel welcome. He accepted everyone for who they are without judgement. No amount of time or distance could separate you from his friendship. His gentle spirit resonates with all that had the pleasure of knowing him. And…his infectious laugh. I think that’s what we’ll miss most of all. Tick tock, brother. Not only will you always be a part of our hearts, you will always remain a part of our souls. Love you more than words can say.

Jennifer Kemp and Keith Lopez, Buford, Ga

Sean was my cousin, fraternity brother, business school classmate, colleague in social affairs, roommate for a time, and I dare say good friend. Sean was a master of ceremonies and good times who brought positive energy to every venue…with a touch of sophistication. He was my strongest advocate on the scene and most trusted advisor. While I was in Georgia, Sean unwittingly instilled valuable intangibles in me…professionalism, hospitality, storytelling, persuasion, empathy. I use these Intangibles today. I will forever treasure my time with Sean in the early 1990s. He was an extraordinary person in my life. Thank you, Sean. Until we meet again. My condolences to everyone.

I am so saddened to hear the news of Sean's passing. He was a special soul and a wonderful friend. He changed my life is so many ways. We were just young men when we met and our bond was very real and true. His friendship will always be remembered and treasured. I found this Emerson quote that expresses my feelings about Sean... May he rest in peace.. To laugh often and much, to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children, to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends, to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others, to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch...to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded! Until we meet again.. much love Sean..

Timothy Rhodes, Los Angeles, CA

I am very saddened to hear that Sean has passed. I was fortunate enough to meet him in the early 2000s, when he installed our medical software. Since those days, I have always enjoyed keeping in touch. I am grateful for the friendship that we developed, and I will never forget his incredibly positive attitude and jovial Irish spirit. I was just looking through our text message exchanges, and saw a great pic that he sent me this past St Patrick's Day of him dressed as a Leprechaun. A classic! Rest in peace brother, and thank you for the many years of great long distance friendship. Aimee, I am so sorry. Please do not hesitate to let me know if you need anything at all.

Todd Boufford, Raleigh, NC

My sincere condolences on your loss. I hope you find comfort in the words at Jeremiah 29:11,12 where our Heavenly Father says the thoughts He is thinking is to give us peace. Part of the peace that he gives is the promise at Isaiah 25:8 where the scripture says "He will swallow up death forever." May this scripture provide you with a measure of comfort and peace.

Mays, Dallas, Tx

I am so sorry. Sean was one of a kind that is for sure! He was a good friend, a true friend that would help you if you needed it no matter what time it was. He will be missed.

Trina Scott, Rincon, GA

My most sincere condolences to the Fillingim family. Losing a loved one in death in never easy. Since it was not part of God’s original plan it is hard to accept and painful to experience. Realistically no words can truly ease the pain. In the past I have found comfort in God’s promise found in Revelation 21:3,4 where our Heavenly Father promises to wipe away every tear from our eyes and death will be no more. There is a guaranteed resurrection promise to all that sleep in death. May you also find comfort in this promise.

E.Valdes, Greenville , SC

I am so sorry for your loss and for everyone who knew and loved Sean. He went out of his way to help anyone and everyone because he truly cared about everyone. He will be sorely missed and could never be replaced. Rest in peace my friend.

Sean Ashley Fillingim, 51, died peacefully Monday, December 3, 2018 at his home with his family by his side.

A native of San Antonio, TX, Sean was born at Lackland AFB on August 13, 1967 to Dr. John Marion Fillingim and Connie Merchant Fillingim. Sean was a true Savannahian, but a Texan at heart. He was a kind and gentle soul with a spirited Irish temperament. He was a 1985 graduate of Savannah Country Day and graduated from Mercer University with a B.B.A. in Finance in 1990.

Following in his father’s, grandfather’s, and uncle’s footsteps, Sean cared for patients in his own way through Information Technology. He most recently owned SAF Computer Service and Support and was formerly employed as the Director of Information Services at Southcoast Medical Group.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Aimee; his stepmother, Alberta; his sister and brother-in-law, Laura and Tim Chandler; his brothers, Noel, Michael, and Rusty; a niece, Brea; a great-niece, Clarity; several aunts, uncles, cousins; and many, many friends who will miss him dearly.

A celebration of Sean’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel with his uncle, Dr. David Walter Fillingim officiating.

The family asks that remembrances be made in Sean’s honor to St. Joseph’s/Candler Foundation, 5356 Reynolds Street, Suite 400, Savannah, GA 31405 or the Savannah Humane Society, 7215 Sallie Mood Drive, Savannah, GA 31406.
