Savita Raut, 92, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 surrounded by her family.  She was born in Mumbai, India March 13, 1924.  She received her B.A. at Ruia College in India.  She moved to Savannah in 1965 with her husband and kids.  She was an accountant at Savannah State University for 24 years.

She was a philanthropist, friend and mother who enjoyed world travel, gardening and caring for her home.  She loved to entertain family and friends with food, conversation, and laughter.

She was an avid sports fan.  Although many people viewed her as their “second mother” Savita’s greatest pride and joy was her family.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. K.B. Raut.

She is survived by her two sons, Pravin Raut of Savannah and his wife Lata, Rajesh Raut of Atlanta; three daughters, Madhuri Widmer of Kansas City and her husband Bob, Chandrakala Jenkins of Savannah and her husband Buzz, Seema Csukas of Atlanta and her husband Steve.  Her loving grandchildren, Eric, Kerthell, Sagar, Stephen, Robert, Sean and Sydney and her great grandchildren, Ethan, Asher, Eli, Ada, Jonah and Amara.

Aie we will always miss your smiling face.

A memorial visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

The funeral service will be private.
