Our thoughts and prayers and with you. Hoov was amazing. He could light up a room without being the center of attention. He was kind, understanding and a wonderful listener. We are proud to have been his friend.

Rob and Kathy Fritz, Savannah, GA

I am so sorry for your loss. In your time of mourning, remember you are not alone. Jehovah God will be there for you anytime and anywhere. David once said, "I love Jehovah Because he hears my voice, my pleas for help" (Psalm 116:1). God will hear your voice as well.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time. Hoov will be missed.

Dear Jane and family. Jo and I were so sad to hear the news of Hoov's passing. He was such a delight to be around. He was funny, loving, engaging and he could carry on a conversation on any subject you wanted to talk about. His inquizative mind was always searching for anything new or different. My son said he was so glad he got to meet and play golf with him. I can just imagine him and God talking and debating on many subjects. Our prayers are with you and the family.

Harry Theofiledes, Dallas, TX

We send our heartfelt sympathies to Jayne and the Hoover family. Hoov was a great guy who always had a smile and a kind word to share. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I am going to miss you my friend.I am serious when I say, the Rep business has not been the same since you retired. We had a lot of fun working shows & promotions, playing golf, sitting at the bar and solving the world's problems and having a nice dinner. Rest In Peace Hoov and my thoughts & prayers go out to you & your family.

Dear Jayne, Hillary, Zach and family, I am so sorry for your loss, my thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Dick aka. Hoov and I were very close friends during college and after. Our escapades bonded us like brothers. I am so sad. His charisma was infectious;those who knew him will attest to his sense of humour and fun loving personality. I will always treasure his friendship and memories of our time together. We lost a very good man. Rest in peace my brother. Babe

Hoov was a proud manufactures rep for 35 years. Who wouldn't buy something from Hoov? His engaging smile, his quick wit, a couple of wild stories, and an answer for everything. Where do I sign? But more importantly, he had a zillion friends and a very special loving family. Jayne, Zack and family, our thoughts and prayers go out to you.

Rick & Judy Garner, Savannah, GA

I am saddened to hear that Hoov has passed. I never met a man that was more upbeat and personally driven to make those around him feel better about themselves. He will be dearly missed.

Richard Eastell Hoover, known affectionately as Hoov, age 74, died in the care of Hospice Savannah on Thursday July 6, 2017.

He was born March 8, 1943, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Richard Thomas Hoover and Laura Eastell Hoover.   He lived in Pittsburgh and Johnstown, PA, before retiring with his wife to Savannah in 2001.

Hoov graduated from Waynesburg College in 1963 and worked as a Manufacturer’s Representative for over 35 years, carrying over 140 sporting goods lines. He devoted energy to many causes, among them the Barn Builders at Bethesda Academy. Endlessly curious, Hoov was a lifelong learner, voracious reader, world traveler, and below average golfer. He did not like it when people stood around snuttering.

Survivors include his wife, Jayne Brissman Hoover; sister, Cooper Raphael; sister-in law, Barbara Burton Sharp; daughter, Hillary Ann Taylor; son, Zachary Brissman Hoover; daughter-in-law, Leslie McJunkin Hoover and his four grandchildren Maya and Ryane Taylor, and Charlie and Hadley Hoover. Hoov is preceded in death by parents and brothers, Liam Mullholland and Michael Hoover.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday July 13, at Skidaway Island United Methodist Church, 54 Diamond Causeway, Savannah, GA 31411.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests Memorial contributions be made to Hospice Savannah, P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416-0190 (www.hospicesavannahhelps.org), or a charity you support.
