So sorry to hear about the loss of your love one , Since death wasn't originally God's purpose for mankind it is very painful to deal with but please read the wonderful hope that the Bible holds out at (Isaiah 25:8) my thaughts and prayers are with you and your family

Dorothy, Dacula Ga ,

My condolences to the Beckwith family for the loss of your dear loved one. During this most difficult time, may your hearts be comforted by Jehovah God’s promise that “there is going to be a resurrection.”(Acts 24:15). Also during the days to come, may Mrs. Beckwith’s sweet memories fill your hearts with joy and peace.

Thomas, Snellville, Ga

I'm so sorry for your loss. Death is not something that was intended to be experienced by humans. The bible holds out a beautiful promise of a ressurection at John 5:28,29. We can see our loved ones again very soon. I hope this scripture brings you some comfort as it has done for me in the past when I experienced loss. Please visit jw.org for more comforting information on this subject and so much more.

What a long, happy, family-filled life. I still remember wondrous, Spanish-moss-filled trips as a child to Skidaway Island. Our family has lost its matriarch. We'll miss you, Aunt Pricilla.

Priscilla Smith Beckwith, cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, devout Christian, philanthropist, and compassionate lover of life, passed away peacefully at home on December 26, 2018, her daughters by her side. Born on January 26, 1915, in Landsdowne, Pennsylvania, she was the second child of the late Frederick Wilson Smith and the late Ethel Duvall Smith. She married Newell Pierce Beckwith in 1939 and was a resident of Dearborn, Michigan for many years prior to moving to Skidaway Island, Georgia in 1981. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 43 years and her son, Frederick Newell Beckwith, as well as her sister, Elizabeth Smith Gilmore, and her brother, Frederick Wilson Smith.

Priscilla was an avid gardener all her life. She was a past President of the Garden Club of Dearborn and was particularly known for her cultivation of miniature roses. Those with joys or sorrows were remembered with little posies of her roses. She enjoyed adventure, and she and Newell delighted in living in South Africa and Germany on company assignments 1974-1977. She was a member of the Skidaway Island Presbyterian Church, the Marcie McCurry Faith Sunday School Class, and always inspired by music, a founding member of the Handbell Choir. She rang the bells joyfully until her vision began to fail. Priscilla was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood for 61 years in Chapter AZ, Detroit, and Chapter L in Savannah, holding a number of offices including that of President in each Chapter.

Priscilla is survived by her daughters, Pamela Coburn, Barbara Beckwith, and Lynne Lenihan (James). Grandchildren include Anne Lusk (John), Susan Chadha (Mohit), Patrick Lenihan (Katie), Priscilla Lenihan, and Frederick Lanihan (Erin). Great-grandchildren include Megan, Allison, Nicholas, and Eva. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Iris Beckwith.

In accordance with Priscilla’s wishes, there will be no memorial service. Following a graveside service, Priscilla will be laid to rest alongside her husband in the family plot in Livonia, MI.

The family suggests that any remembrances be made to the Beckwith Handbell Fund, Skidaway Island Presbyterian Church, 50 Diamond Causeway, Savannah, GA, 31411, or the Beckwith Handbell Endowment, Cottey College, 1000 W. Austin, Nevada, Missouri 64772.
