Patsy Groover, 88, died Monday, January 21, 2019 at home surrounded by her loving family.

The longtime Savannah resident grew up in Jesup and was a graduate of Wayne County High School, Georgia Teacher’s College, and the University of Georgia. She formerly taught school in Chatham County and later served for more than 25 years as a real estate broker. Patsy was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Robert Joseph Groover, Sr. and her son, Patrick “Ricky” Groover.

Surviving are her sons, Robbie and David Groover of Savannah; six granddaughters; Kari, Kathryn, Kaitlyn and Caroline Groover, Emilie Groover Hill, and Laura Grace Groover; one great-granddaughter, Nora Rose Hill; and several nieces, nephews, and friends that will miss her dearly.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with Reverend Jim Giddens and Pastor Rob Conatser officiating. Pallbearers will be Mike Groover, Nick Groover, Johnny Groover, Jimmy Groover, George Andrews and Kevin Banegas.

The Groover family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff at Hopsice Savannah for the care given to Patsy during her illness.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations made in Patsy’s honor to Hospice Savannah, P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416.
