Pat was my Mothers closest friend. In our childhood, every time we needed a shot she would take us to Pat. I have always been an admirer of the Persse family. Pat gave it her all for the Lord Jesus Christ. I know she is up there talking to mother right now. God richly blessed us with Pat Persse, a life well lived for the Lord Jesus Christ. My prayers go to the family.

My condolences to the Persse family. We remember "Nursse Persse" fondly in Bloomingdale. She made inoculations a little less scarey and she had a wonderful way with children. My thoughts and prayers are with her nephew Tim and the rest of her adoring family.

Jimmy Maddox, Bloomingdale, Ga

We will always remember the warm welcomes we received when visiting 'Aunt Pat'. God bless her, and our condolences to all her family. Pax et Bonum.

Sylvan and Connie Thuente, Macon, Ga

Our thoughts and prayers are with all the Persse family. Go with God Patricia.

Patricia Persse, 91, entered into eternal rest on Holy Thursday, April 13, 2017, at her home. She was preceded in death by her parents, J. Harry Persse, Sr. and Winnifred O’Connor Persse, her brother, Dr. J. Harry Persse, and her sisters, Winnifred O’Connor Persse and Margaret Persse Trexler.

Pat was born in Savannah in 1926. She attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Saint Vincent’s Academy in 1944. She received a baccalaureate degree and later a master’s degree in Public Health Nursing from the Catholic University of America. For the vast majority of her career in nursing, Pat worked as a nurse at the Chatham County Health Department. During her time at the Health Department, she acted in a movie about stroke recovery, a film which was produced in several foreign languages. She became District Chief Nurse with responsibilities over eight counties. Pat played an important role in bringing the Hospice program to Savannah. Pat retired from the Health Department in 1989 after thirty seven years of public service.

Pat remained active long after her retirement. She maintained her family’s life long association with Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She became active in many volunteer activities. Pat continued her interest in music serving as a member of the J. Harry Persse Memorial Choir. And she always remained an avid fisherman. Most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews to whom she will be forever remembered fondly as Aunt Pat.

Pat is survived by her brother, Jefferson D. Persse of Brooksville, Florida, her sisters in law, Mary Kay Persse O’Leary of Tybee Island and Mary Cartlidge Persse, of Rockledge, Florida, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
