Nelson David Shaner,62, died December 16, 2017 at Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

He was born April 23,1955 in Boca Raton FL to Robert and Eleanor Shaner. He lived most of his life in North East Ohio before moving to Savannah. He graduated from Matthews High School in Vinnena, Ohio in 1973. He then served in the U.S. Army. After serving in the army he worked as a machinist for many years. He enjoyed rock collecting and fishing.

Nelson is survived by his children, Loretta (Marcus) Lewis, Pamela Shaner, and Robert Shaner; grandchildren, Gabriel Lewis, Samantha Lewis, and Alizejih May; a sister, Lorraine Shaner; a brother, Matthew (Elissa) Shaner; and close friend Regina Metzger. Proceeding him in death are his parents, a brother, John Shaner, and a sister, Catherine Shaner.

Per his wishes, cremation took place with a private service. The family asks in lieu of flowers monetary donations be made to help with funeral expenses.
