I am so sorry for the loss of your dear loved one. May the God of All comfort give you a measure of comfort during this difficult time & may He comfort you through the many prayers in your behalf. (2Corinthians 1:3, 4, Revelation 21.3, 4)

So very sorry for your loss. Isaiah 25:8 says “He will swallow up death forever, And the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces.”

D K, ,

I saw Melinda and Chris on occasion after I retired from Walmart, and we always talked about getting together for dinner or lunch. I had the privilege to learn from and work with nearly 25 years with Melinda at Walmart. Melinda and I went to lunch and breaks together. Her mother Shirley worked with me, and they were the best of people. The Melinda I knew when I first met her to the last time I ran into Chris and her at dinner at Barnes restaurant, never changed. Melinda was one of the kindest people I ever met in my life. Walmart did not always treat her like she deserved to be treated, but she was gracious. Melinda never changed in that respect. Melinda once told me that one day she wanted to own a small bookstore in the mountains. That is as beautiful as her soul is, and Melinda was always a reflection of God's love and joy. I am so sad at her loss, but I know Heaven is much brighter with her loving spirit. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family especially Chris, her son. Chris is a wonderful young man and I know Melinda loves him dearly. He is a shining example of the wonderful life and light to the world that is Melinda. May God bless you all, God bless my dear friend Melinda.

I was Melinda's sweetmeat at Mars Hill College. She was a delightful young girl who had a kind and humble heart. She always made us laugh and was a joy to be around. My heartfelt condolences to Chris and the rest of the family.

My deepest condolences to the Brown and Howell family for the loss of your dear loved one. In looking at her picture, her smile made me smile. So may your hearts be comforted in knowing that Jehovah God promised at Acts 24:15 that "there is going to be a resurrection". So we will see our dead loved ones again. Also during the days to come, may Ms. Melinda's sweet memories fill your hearts with joy and peace.

Thomas, Snellville, Ga.

Melinda is a wonderful sister and I'm happy to have shared the last few week at her side. I love our all family and grateful for the kindness of so many who came to visit, encourage and pray for her. Peace be with you

Melinda was always a caring and loving person. Even on the days when she was under the weather, she could find the strength to make others feel better. There were countless times that she was willing to go that extra mile to help me accomplish my task at work. For that I will always be eternally grateful. She wasn't just a coworker to many but a true friend. She will be truly missed and always remembered.

My heart and prayers go out to the family. Melinda was a wonderful person and I got to call her friend. We may have started out as co-workers but ended up as so much more. We shared so much of the great things life brought us and I will always cherish those memories. It will never be good bye between us but until I see you again my friend. Love you and miss you until then.

Lori Stair, Ellabell, GA

Melinda Ann Brown Howell was born on December 2, 1958 in Savannah, GA. She went home to be with the Lord on November 3, 2018. She passed in the care of Hospice Savannah and her loving family after a short battle against cancer.

Melinda graduated from North Augusta Senior High in North Augusta, SC and received her Bachelor's Degree from Mars Hill College in Mars Hill, NC. She spent the later part of her career working in the office for Walmart on Wilmington Island, where she made many great friends.

Melinda was preceded in death by her husband, Walt Howell, parents Don and Shirley Brown and sister Kathy Brown Hebert. She is survived by her beloved son, Chris; brother Joey Brown (Becky) and sister Mary Pinte (Rick); along with adored aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Melinda is most remembered for her kind, sweet and loving spirit. She had the biggest heart and spent her life caring for others. She loved to read and shared that passion with everyone that knew her. She enjoyed visiting the beach, exploring the mountains and traveling. Melinda and Chris enjoyed going to the movies together and eating at Western Sizzlin. She loved animals and has 2 cats, Gracie and Lacie, that adore and miss her.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 10th  from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel, 4605 Highway 80 Eeast.

Family and friends are invited to join us to help celebrate Melinda's life and memories.

The family suggests that remembrances be made in her memory by donation of books to a local library. Reading is a cherished gift and takes you on adventures near and far. "A reader lives a thousand lives before he/she dies. The person who never reads lives only one."

The family wants to thank the hospice staff, volunteers and loved ones for the abundance of care, support, prayers and love throughout Melinda's illness.
