Just seeing this news. So sorry to hear about the death of your lovely mother. We enjoyed her sweet generous spirit during the time we knew her and appreciated her greatly.

Ron and Stephanie Wood, Lilburn, Ga

You have our deepest sympathy. May the God of Love and Peace be with you and your family. May it console you to know that others care and think of you. We ask God to bless you with courage to bear the sorrow that fills your heart. John 5:28,29

, Atlanta, GA

To our Southern Family, Your mom was the most beautiful person we had ever met both inside and out. She always made people happy around her. Our deepest sympathy and condolences are expressed. She will be greatly missed by all of us. Love and prayers to all of you.

Lisa & Joe Montemurro Joey Samantha & Dom, Kings Park , NY

My sympathy goes to Mert's family. We grew up in St. Elmo and graduated City High School together. I have lots of wonderful memories of her and her family, from attending her Dad's church, the fun times, and when Cathy was born. We lost touch many years ago but I will always have a love for her in my heart. See you in Eternity friend.

Kathryn Peterson Card, Chattanooga, TN

Dear Powers Family, I want to take a moment to express my deepest sympathy to your family. Our God, Jehovah, desires to bring back those who have died and end all things that cause suffering, as we read at Revelation 21:4. May this and other promises recorded in God's word the Bible continue to comfort your family.

Tati K., Snellville, GA

May the God of peace comfort you during this difficult time (Philippians 4:6,7). Take comfort in God's promise to do away with pain, suffering and death (Revelation 21:3,4). My condolences to the family.

D Tucker, Locust Grove, GA

Mert was a classmate at Lookout Jr. High and a former neighbor. All her friends from Chattanooga had hopes she would attend one of our Lookout Jr. High annual reunions. We will miss her. Childhood friends have a special place in your heart. I have fond memories of her when we were all so young and shared our dreams of the future. Grace and peace to her children, grandchildren, and siblings.

Sue St. James formerly Jimmie Sue Orrell, Chattanooga, TN

A beautiful woman we were lucky to have touch all of our lives. My respect for her is immeasurable. As a mother and grandmother she was a role model to mothers everywhere. I will miss your laugh, quick whit and huge smile. All our love to the family she loved so very much. Sincerely, Mo Dixon

Stevie, Tami and Polly-I was so sad to hear that Mary had passed. She was such an awesome lady and she will really be missed by everyone who knew her! Praying for you and your family!!

Rest in peace sweet Mert. As a kid, I spent more time at the Powers home than at my own house. Mary was and always will be my second mom. Many a night was spent agonizing over baseball games that were lost or celebrating games that were won with Mary, Bob, Stevie, Polly and Alan. I'll forever cherish those memories. If I raise my kids to be as fun, caring and loving people as the example that you set for me, I'll consider my life a great success. I'll miss you forever mom, but I know that you'll always be looking down and protecting us with Bob-o by your side. Sleep peacefully Mary. We love you. Greg, Teri, Samantha, and Casey.

Greg von Waldner , Centerville , Ga

Dear Cathy, Alan, Polly and Steven- It was heartbreaking to her from my mom that Mary was gone. We all have such wonderful memories of your family, from Mary and Glenda going to school together in Chattanooga, to all of our fun times as kids. Your Mom was such a special person. She made everyone feel so loved and she will be missed by everyone who ever had the pleasure of knowing her.
