My condolences to the Cole and Potter family for the loss of your dear loved one. From reading some of the other condolences, I can discern the love and affection Mrs. Potter had for all of you. So During this most difficult time, may your hearts be comforted by Jehovah God's promise to "Wipe out every tear from our eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore."(Rev. 21:4) Also, during the days to come, may Mrs. Potter's sweet memories fill your hearts with joy and peace.

There will never be another Nita, but you will be in my heart and mind forever. I thank our dear Lord for the time we had together. JUANITA ROSE COLE POTTER

Her spirit returned to her natural home with the Lord on January 2, 2018.  She was born in 1925 in Waycross, GA to Louis H. and M. Louise Lanier Cole. in 1925, however, the family moved to Savannah when she was a baby where she remained the rest of her life. She married Alvis Potter before he shipped out for the South Pacific during WWII and their union lasted 60+ years.

She taught children in Sunday School for Memorial Baptist Church for many years, and later became an active member of Coastal Christian Church for over 30 years where she became a spiritual mother to many.

Nita considered her trip to Israel in 1979 as a major highlight of her life because of her strong faith in Yaweh, Jeshua as her Savior, Holy Spirit as her guide, counselor and comforter and her great love for the Jewish people.  The land of Israel was of major importance to her.  She also considered her work with John 3:16, a mission birthed at Coastal Christian Church and her mission trips to Brazil and Nicaragua with them to have been benchmarks in her life's journey that increased her deep faith in God.    Nita put God at the center of her life. She was able to love people freely because she was so in love with Him. Out of that love came a life of integrity, compassion for the needs of others and joy even in the midst of many serious struggles. She fought the good fight.

Mrs. Potter worked for Desbouillon's Jewelers as a Sales Associate for close to 20 years and then stayed on with Levy Jewelers for a few years after they purchased Desbouillon’s.  She enjoyed selling and working with the pubic mainly because she simply loved people. She looked forward to going to work every day and became friends with co-workers and many clients.

Survivors:  Anita L. “Cookie” Mei, daughter, Jennifer Rose Mei, granddaughter, Barbara Potter, daughter-in-law, Chris Conklin and Lewis Potter, grandchildren, plus greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by: Alvis Potter, husband, Roy E. Potter, son, Nancy Nash and Agnes Vinson, sisters.

Service to celebrate her life & scatter her ashes will be private.

If you wish to honor Nita with a memorial gift please send to Hospice Savannah, P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA  31416-0190, or The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 906, Savannah, GA, 31402-0906
