I was truly taken back to hear about Joyce the day after I called to check on her. I really enjoyed our conversations when I did her hair and our love for felines. She was a very sweet woman and will be missed. My heart goes out to all the family. ??

I am so very sorry for your loss, losing a loved one in death is very painful. Please remember that Jehovah is close to the brokenhearted; he saves those who are crushed in spirit. Ps.34:18,19. While words fail to capture the pain of losing a loved one, we look forward to the time when words will fail to capture the joy of having our heavenly Father Jehovah return your dear one Joyce to you. May you also find comfort in the wonderful memories you have during those difficult times.

Tonya. Thank you for letting me know your mom passed and Lisbeth and I send our deepest condolences. I called my mom immediately (and brothers) and told her and the news, as I suspected, was heartbreaking. She fondly recalled so, so many wonderful things about your mom and dad, especially all the double dating they did together. I will certainly keep you and your family in my prayers and I can't wait to see your mom again in the first resurrection over which the second death has no power. Let's stay in touch and please call me if you need anything.

Tonya & family, I send my love and sympathy. Joyce was a great friend for many years as we worked at the Gas Co. We loved to shop! (Fines Big Sale, top of list)I met her when I had just graduated from High School, so she taught me many "life lessons"! I am Karen Brindley's mother.

Joyce A. Sharpe passed away January 10, 2018, peacefully at her home on Skidaway Island at the age of 88. She was born December 1, 1929 in Savannah, GA. She graduated from Savannah High School in 1948 and married her high school sweetheart, Billy. Eleven years later, they had their only child, Tonya. She worked for the Savannah Gas Company for 45 years. Upon retirement, she began flipping houses and opened her own rental business. To many she was Aunt Joyce, but to her grandchildren, she was Nana. She absolutely adored them. She loved spending time with family and hosting Christmas parties, along with wedding showers. She opened her home to all and never met a stranger. She also had a passion for animals, especially cats.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, William “Billy” Sharpe. She is survived by a daughter, Tonya Sharpe Murphy (Cass), three grandchildren, Marlowe Riddle, Cassie Murphy, and Will Murphy, a brother, Joseph A. Austin, Sr., a best friend of 47 years, Pat Youmans, her favorite kitty, Precious, and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside Service for family and friends will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park. Following the service, the family will receive friends at the family residence at 7 Morning Marsh Road, Savannah, GA 31411.
