My father, Ben Quick, worked at WTOC Radio across the street from Hamilton's Pharmacy. He always spoke very highly of George. My thoughts are with the family. Karen (Quick) Duncan

George Dyson Hamilton, 88, passed away August 4, 2017. A life long resident of Savannah, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and pharmacist.

Mr. Hamilton was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Jane Hattrich Hamilton. He is survived by his daughters, Jane Hamilton Boatright and her husband Dennis, Patricia Hamilton Stacy and her husband Thomas, and Diane Hamilton Lightsey and her husband Dennis. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Emily Boatright Moody (Ryan), Anna Boatright Gross (David), Joshua Hamilton Boatright, Timothy Wallace Boatright, Brittany Elizabeth Lightsey, Caroline Boatright Johnson (Andrew), Alexander Dyson Lightsey, Samuel Hunter Boatright and Grace Hamilton Stacy. Other family members include seven great-grandchildren along with his nieces and nephews.

Mr. Hamilton graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Georgia and was a valedictorian candidate. He went on to graduate from the University of Georgia School of Pharmacy in 1955, retiring from practice in 2001. Devoted to his patient's care, Mr. Hamilton was the owner of Hamilton's Apothecary at the corner of Abercorn and Huntingdon Streets in downtown Savannah. He then opened the Village Walk Pharmacy at the Landings.

Visitation will be held at Fox and Weeks Hodgson Chapel on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 10 o'clock in the morning with the funeral service immediately following at 11:00am. There will be a private family burial at Bonaventure Cemetery.  He had been attending the Independent Presbyterian Church and Dr. Terry Johnson will be conducting the service.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice Savannah.
