Fred Richard Wasson Jr., 85, died Wednesday, September 12th, 2018 at his home.

He was born December 22, 1932 in Savannah, GA and lived in Savannah for all of his life.

He served in the National Guard before joining the United States Army during the Korean War.

After retiring from Gulfstream, he started his own lawn mower repair business. He was known to many as “The Lawnmower Man”. He loved working with his hands and had everything imaginable in his shop. He loved fishing and sharing the fishing experience with his family and friends. He was an avid hunter and was a member of a hunting club. One of his favorite pastimes was telling family and friends stories from the past. He enjoyed gardening, growing grapes and making his own wine.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary “Kitty” Wasson; his children, Dianne Dimmitt, Sandy Fordham (Dorsey), and Ricky Wasson (Sharol); his grandchildren, Fred Wasson IV (Sarah), Lisa Lee (Lannie), John Brian Wasson (Sara), Tara Beaty, Kevin Wasson (Laurel), Joe Fordham, Eric Dimmitt & Shane Dimmitt; and six great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, September 14th at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 15th at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

His grandsons will serve as Pallbearers.
