With great sadness, the family of Donald (Don) L. Munn of Savannah, Georgia announces that Don passed away on September 10, 2018, at the age of 80.

Don will be lovingly remembered and missed by his dear friend and life partner, Tina Kurilko; Don’s daughters, Melissa (Missy) Schott and Jennifer (Jenni) Smith Gerke and her husband Keith; and his sons Robert (Rob) Schott, M.D. and his wife Linda Morrow, M.D.; and Russell (Rusty) Schott and his wife Doreen. In addition, Don is survived and will be missed by his grandchildren Conor and Catherine (Kate) Schott; Hailey and Russell (Russ) Schott Jr.; Margaret (Maggie) Glass; and twins Lila and Lena Gerke. Don was predeceased by his wives, Constance (Connie) Munn and Louise (Sam) Smith Munn. Don is also survived and will be missed by his sister, Janet (Terri) Munn, Esq. and her husband Michael Fass and by Don’s brother, John Munn and his wife Mary and their children and grandchildren.

Don was raised in DeFuniak Springs, Florida and lived for over 20 years in Kalamazoo, Michigan where he was a partner in a construction firm named Barton and Associates. After moving to Savannah, among other projects, Don worked on the historic restoration of the Lucas Theatre for the Arts in Savannah. He also worked on NASA’s headquarters in Cape Canaveral and the Dolphin Stadium in Miami, Florida. He subsequently started his own company known as ACCI, that provided construction estimating services for a great variety of construction projects all over the world.

Don greatly enjoyed restoring Jaguars and other antique cars, watching Formula 1 races, as well as attending for over 35 years an annual fishing tournament in Michigan called “The Vandermay Annual Fishing Trip”.

A celebration of Don’s life for his family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018, at 11:00 am at White Bluff Presbyterian Church in Savannah.

Memorial donations in the memory of Don may be made to White Bluff Presbyterian Church.
