Out thoughts and prayers are with your family. Mr Souchen was a very nice and caring man. David, Tracy and Charlotte Bragg. Bragg Automotive

Charlotte Bragg , Port Wentworth , GA

I am so sorry to hear of Dave's passing. I worked for him and his dear wife Maura many years ago, and all my memories of both of them are kind and happy. Dave was a good man, a disciplined businessman and father to a beautiful family at home and among his employees and staff in the work place. He taught me many things about the industry and he is forever etched in my castle of special places. Rest in peace dear Dave and blessings and prayers for Maura and the family. Love, T.O.

Maura, you and your sons have been in my thoughts and on my heart since I of heard of David's sudden passing. I am sure there are no words that can truly bring comfort at this time; however, please know that he was held in the highest regard by all who knew him. The Savannah Tech Local Board will not be the same without him. I, personally, treasured his guidance and support.

Kathy Love, savannah, ga

God bless you all. David sivchen will always have a place in our hearts.

Maura, My prayers are with you and the boys. May you find peace that only the Lord can give. The Lord tells us His Grace is sufficient. I will always love and remember all that David and you did for me as my Mom was sick and then passed away. Until you are united with David in Heaven, Hold on to the Great and precious memories you have..

Sonia Davis, Ellabell, GA

Maura, We are so sorry to hear that David passed away. He was always so good to us and all of our family. He was a great source of inspiration and advice when things didn't seem to be going very well. He had high expectations from those who worked with him but never wavered in his support in helping them achieve their goals. He will be missed. I hope you and the boys can find peace in the knowledge that he loved you and always made sure you were taken care of. He will continue to watch over you and take care of you until you are reunited in Heaven. May he rest in peace and may you remember the wonderful times you shared as you go forward. He will always be a part of you.

The Kolat family, Savannah,

David Nicholas Sovchen of Savannah, Georgia: Born January 25, 1947, died peacefully, January 25, 2019 on his 72nd Birthday.

Survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Maura. Most adored father of Christopher and Alexander Sovchen.  He will be deeply missed by Chris’s fiancée, Sarah Petruchik.

David was a very special and treasured brother-in-law to Andrée Walsh of Vancouver, and uncle to her children, Blake, Sean (and his fiancée, Cindy Perreira) of Seattle, Wa., and Sarah Walsh. He was the respected brother-in-law of Steven Lea and Maureen Lea of Toronto, and uncle and great uncle of Jeffrey and Raquel Lea, Jessica and Corey Blair and their children, Andrew, Ryan and Rylee, and Jenna Lea.

David was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pa., and is predeceased by his parents, Marian Ann and John Sovchen and his brother, Paul Sovchen. He obtained his B.A. from the University of Kansas and graduated Cum Laude. He declined acceptance to law school, and instead, embarked on a successful career in the food services and hospitality industry that fueled his passion for travel and gave him the opportunity to live in many locations including Saudi Arabia and England.

In 1985, David joined Wendy’s International as a respected member of the senior management team, where not only did he meet the love of his life, Maura, but where they ultimately acquired the Savannah, Georgia franchise and made Savannah home. David, with Maura’s help, turned the Savannah Wendy’s International market into one of the most reputable and successful franchises in the Wendy’s family.

David was an exemplary father and role model to Christopher and Alexander. He instilled in his boys his kind and giving nature and his strong commitment to family along with his incredible work ethic. He shared his love of fishing and nature with them. There was little in life that David loved more than spending time with his boys on their many fishing trips in the USA and Canada. David shared his passion for travel with Maura, and together, as a family, they embarked on many memorable foreign trips.

David never forgot about his friends and his community. He was a wonderful, loyal and devoted  friend. He gave back to the Savannah community through his involvement with the Savannah Chamber of Commerce, the Salvation Army, the Boy Scouts of America, and Savannah Technical College and he was an avid supporter of the Arts.

He will be dearly missed by his family, his friends and his community.

Visitation on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 8412 Whitefield Ave., Savannah, immediately followed by a Funeral Mass. Internment private.
