Charles William “Chuck” Beck, 78 of Savannah, GA. passed away unexpectedly in the afternoon of the 27th of September on Skidaway Island. Chuck was born in 1940 in Youngstown, Ohio and lived across the United States and Europe before retiring to Savannah in 2001.

Chuck completed his undergraduate work at the University of Dayton and graduate work at Penn State University. Chuck was an avid and dedicated volunteer. He was active in the LOVE reading program, Kiwanis, and Volunteer of the Year at Bethesda Boys Home (Bethesda Academy). Chuck held several officer positions on The Landings Association Board of Directors and was the Advisory Board Chairperson of the Salvation Army Savannah.

Chuck was a devoted father, grandfather, uncle, brother and son. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Evans Beck and Ardelle (Berner) Beck of Cleveland Ohio. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Norma (Becker) Beck and by his children Charles Gregory Beck, Nanette (Feagin) Beck, Timothy Beck, Kristi (Runnels) Beck, Sarah Beck Hartigan, Sean Hartigan, Jennifer Beck Meredith, and Eric Meredith. Papa/Grandpa was much loved by his seven grandchildren Kelsey, Hannah, Ethan, Brendan, Henry, James and Luke. He is also survived by his brothers John Evans Beck Jr. and Robert Paul Beck.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday October 4th , 2018 at Skidaway Island United Methodist Church, the Rev. Hale Bishop celebrant. The family will receive friends at 10:00 AM prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests any remembrances to be made in Chuck’s memory to The Salvation Army Savannah, 3000 Bee Road, Savannah, GA 31405.
