Dennis. Jimmy I'm so sorry for your loss, we grew up together, and she has always been a special girl to me, many great memories, I loved her like family and was so sad to hear of her passing, RIP Cookie.

Butch smith, Myrtle beach, SC,

My deepest sympathy to Dennis and entire family for their loss. A former class mate and good friend for many years. Dennis I attended your wedding at Morehead Inn in 1987 and still have a beautiful picture of you and Cookie. My thoughts and prayers are with you and her brother and his family.

Judy P. Jackson, Charlotte, NC

Dear Dennis, I'm so sorry for your loss. I never really know what to say at a time like this. You were a loving and faithful husband to this wonderful woman. Take time for yourself - don't forget to keep on living. You are surrounded by friends. Your friend, Anne

Anne Allman, Wilmington Island, Georgia

My deepest condolences to the Leadbetter family. I was the young neighbor that was fascinated by the car collection of Mr Dennis, cut his grass, walked their dogs and eventually learned to drive a stick with his help after many hand washes. Ms Cookie was always great to me as a young boy and Im glad I took the time to introduce her to my young girls. I will forever remember her southern drawl, proper ways and beautiful smile. Rest In Peace Ms Cookie, you will be missed.

Jack Marchand, Savannah , Ga

SAVANNAH - Following a long illness, Carolyn "Cookie" Brown Leadbetter, age 71, passed peacefully on February 6, 2017.

Cookie was born September 11, 1945 in Atlanta to parents Edward Brown and Lorraine Campbell Brown. Her family later moved to Charlotte, NC where she attended Harding High School and earned a degree from Wingate College.

After working for Eastern Airlines in Charlotte for many years, Cookie married her husband, General G. Dennis Leadbetter (ret.) in 1986. The couple retired to The Landings at Skidaway Island where Cookie found her true passion -- selling real estate. In her years of working at The Landings, she helped hundreds of families buying and selling homes and she earned multiple sales achievement awards.

Her Southern grace, charm and outgoing personality will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She touched the hearts of many and her generous spirit was a true blessing to everyone she met.

Cookie is survived by her loving husband, Dennis (Savannah); brother Jimmy Brown and wife Vicky (Buford, Ga.); and nephews Chris Brown and wife Denise (Lorton, Va.) and Michael Brown and wife Meredith (Grayson, Ga.).

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 10, 2017, at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church where Cookie was a faithful member.
