Bettina B. Beecher (Tina), age 78, died on June 16th, 2018 at Candler Hospital in Savannah, GA. She was the daughter of Harold A. and Madaline P. Boney, both deceased. Mrs. Beecher was also predeceased by a former husband, W. Orson Beecher, and a son, Charles Douglas Pearce.

Bettina is survived by her husband Denver Combs; her son J. Scott Pearce (Sharon); grandson Jeffrey S. Pearce, Jr.; two brothers, Harold A. Boney, Jr. of Beaufort, SC and Barry D. Boney of Memphis, TN; stepson Tracy Combs (Cathy), step-granddaughter Morgan Combs of Guyton, GA and numerous other relatives.

Mrs. Beecher was a 1957 Salutatorian graduate of Savannah High School and a 1971 Suma Cum Laude graduate of AASU with a BS in Education. She was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, the League of Women Voters, and a life member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) where she served as Savannah Branch president, Georgia State president and chaired the annual Book Fair for 13 years. Bettina was dedicated to life-long education and worked diligently to provide scholarship funds for women.

Mrs. Beecher worked for the FBI (1964 – 1966) as a legal secretary; taught school (1971 – 1975); worked as a secretary/associate planner for the Branigar Organization (1976 – 1982); and was part owner and operator of Red Maple Farm in Effingham County (1982 – 1994).

Bettina will be remembered by friends and acquaintances as a caring, dedicated and generous person.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2018, at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
