I am sorry for your loss. Death is painful to all of us. However God's word the Bible always offers encouragement. A scripture I find comforting is Isaiah 25:8. There Jehovah promises to do away with death and all things that bring us pain. That will be very satisfying! I hope this thought has been comforting to you. May positive thoughts fill you hearts and minds as you endure this difficult time.

Barbara Sanders Richey, 82, of Savannah, died in her home on Friday, September 22, 2017.

Barbara was born in Savannah on December 4, 1934 and was the daughter of the late Mills Burdell Sanders and Charlie Mae Sieg Sanders. She was a graduate of Pape School in Savannah and Stratford College in Virginia. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Samuel Richey, and her brother, Francis Mills Sanders.

She is survived by her sister, Nancy Sanders Brown (Woodford), her nephews, Phillip Daffin Cope, Stephen Hull Cope, Craig Mills Sanders (Dawn), her niece, Jennifer Elizabeth Sanders, and several cousins.

While attending Pape School, Barbara won many awards in competitive equestrian events. After college, she was employed as a medical technician. Barbara enjoyed volunteer work with the Humane Society and animal rescue organizations. She was an accomplished dog trainer. Her greatest enjoyment was visiting patients with her therapy Miniature Schnauzers.

Barbara was a lifetime member of Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church.

Graveside Service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 2, 2017 at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
