Ann Naismith Groover passed away peacefully on October 3rd, 2018.

The Savannah native was born at home on E. 31st Street on September 16, 1931 to Agnes and James Alfred Naismith. She attended Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church. Ann and her brothers, Alfred, Jean and Donald spent their weekends and summers with her great Aunt Doda Pete and great Uncle Doodle on Ferguson Avenue crabbing, fishing and boating. She graduated from Savannah High School where she lettered in basketball and was a member of Quis Qui Sorority and she attended the University of Georgia.

Ann was predeceased by her parents and was the widow of John Arte Groover, her high school sweetheart.

She is survived by her four children: Pam Groover, John A. Groover, Jr. (Florence Kenny), Wendy Groover Lanier (Wes), and James A. Groover (Vivian), five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and a great-great niece.

After raising her children, Ann joined the sales force at Sears, then managed the Hand Made'N needlework store with her sister-in-law, Jane Samford Naismith, and later spun tall tales to unsuspecting tourists at the Savannah Visitors' Center. She enjoyed her mall-walking group, boxing at Cohen's and her incredibly loved and spoiled pets.

Visitation will be Saturday evening, October 6, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.

Remembrances may be made in Ann's memory to Get Excited & Move at Cohen's Gym (Non-profit), 7232 Varnedoe Drive, Savannah, GA 31406 or the Movement Disorder Program of St. Joseph/Chandler Hospitals, 5353 Reynolds Street, Savannah, GA 31405.
